The Solo Musical Program and the Celebration of 14th Kamala Memorial Day

In the hall of Tourism Board, Bhrikutimandap , Kathmandu, on  2nd February, 2018, Martyrs Day, BWAN organized the Solo Musical Program which celebrated the accomplishments and contribution of over 100 distinguished guests and disabled artists, for example, ChiriMaya Maharjan, the blind singer as well as the founder and vice president of BWAN, and Mr.ChetanKarki, a great Nepali musician and filmmaker. The main goals, also the major outcomes, of this program are to raise the scholarship fund named “Kamala Smriti Fund” to support BVI girls’ education in rural communities and to strengthen the relationships between BWAN members by showing their artistic abilities.

Additionally, in the hall of blind Youth association Nepal (BYAN), Sukedhara, Kathmandu, on 8th January, 2018, Blind Women Association-Nepal (BWAN) organized a half-day celebration and commemoration of Kamala Shrestha, the former vice president of Nepal Association of the Blind (NAB) and first coordinator of NAB’s women’s committee. During the activity, several important guests delivered speeches about their gratitude to the organizations’ support, their nostalgia of the past leaders, and their experiences in other social works. Many members also kindly donated to the “Kamala Smriti Fund.” 27351 Nepalese rupees were collected, and some were used to provide yearly scholarships for two blind and visually impaired (BVI) girls for their higher education.
