Awareness, Legal Literacy and Networking for BVI Women-Funded by Nepal Government

BWAN has executed the project on ‘Awareness, Legal Literacy and networking for BVI Women” under the funding support of Ministry of Women, Children and senior Citizens and Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The main aim of this project was to sensitize BVI women on legal literacy and strengthening the organization through networking. This project was executed for the year of 2017-2018 (BS 2074-2075). Two programs had been conducted from this project:

I. Three days basic legal literacy training

BWAN organized three days basic legal literacy training 1st -3rd June, 2018 for WWDs at the hall of Nepal Association for the Welfare of the Blind, Tripureshwor, and Kathmandu. The main aim of the training was to sensitize on violence against WWDs and to provide knowledge on the existing laws and services to WWDs. 32 participants were benefitted from the training in which BVI women, women with physical disabilities and women with hearing disabilities have participated.

 II. Psychosocial counseling

BWAN has organized one day psychosocial counseling to WWDs on 22nd June, 2018 at the hall of blind youth association Nepal (BYAN). The main aim of the Training was to provide counseling to the needy WWDs. Counselor, Ms. Parwati Shrestha, facilitated the entire sessions. 9 women with disabilities and other board members have been benefited from this counseling program.
